A Note from Matt of Bergmeyer

What I’m most excited by is the idea of CURIO – a space for the larger design community to leverage in order to connect with designers, reps, manufacturers and the public at large. I can see IIDA hosting philanthropy events, EDI discussions, professional development programs and mini-trade shows here.  At the same time, I can see the space supporting a wide range of public events from TEDx salons, company team-building off-sites, board retreats, and community design charrettes -- like the BSA’s Family Design Days.

I particularly love the idea of a pop-up showroom venue where reps and manufacturers can partner with Boston-based designers to creatively showcase their products in ways not encumbered by typical project constraints.  I hope to see these pop-ups  and other brand activations drive innovation in product use, product development, and larger-scale collaborations between different manufacturers – something rarely seen in the traditional showroom format.
